Characteristic
Cocoa beans are native to tropical regions of America. In Ecuador, cocoa was cultivated for the first time at the base of the Amazon and it is considered that due to the climatic conditions of the coastal areas, a genetic evolution was generated that resulted in a bean with a unique aroma and flavor, which is currently recognized worldwide.
Presentation of the product
Cocoa beans are exported in jute or cabuya sacks of 69 kg.
It is important to mention that the following semi-processed products are obtained from the cocoa bean:
–Nibs
– Cocoa paste
– Cocoa butter
– Cocoa powder
Vitamins and minerals
Rich in magnesium, copper, potassium and iron. Contains polyphenols, catechins, anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins.
